Panthers Outlast Indiana Tech, 84-80

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Panthers found themselves in a battle Saturday afternoon as Indiana Tech fought DU to the final buzzer. Davenport trailed at the half despite a 6-for-6 shooting performance from Alex Law who led all scorers with 16 points. The Panthers made the key plays down the stretch and hit their free throws to outlast the Warriors, 84-80.

DU found themselves trailing at the break after the Warriors took the second quarter by a 25-22 score. Indiana Tech shot 45.7% from the field for the half with the combination of Haley Cook and Taylor Carver leading the Warriors with 11 points apiece. The Panthers would find their stride offensively behind the play of Alex Law as she would go a perfect 4-for-4 from behind the arc for the half to lead a Panther team that shot 66.7% from three-point range.

The Warriors did not let up in the third quarter as they earned a two-point margin, 21-19, and DU trailed 64-61 heading into the fourth quarter. Indiana Tech would hold a 68-67 lead with 5:02 remaining in the game when Momo Neal forced a Warrior foul and Indiana Tech showed their frustration that resulted in an ensuing technical foul. The Panthers capitalized by making all four of their free throws which sparked an 8-0 run that gave DU the lead for good.

Kendra Cook and Molly Babbs aided this surge from DU as they would lead DU in the paint down the stretch. Cook would go on to score 13 pounds and add eight rebounds while Babbs totaled a career-high 18 points. Law finished the game leading all DU scorers with 20 points on a 7-for-12 performance from the field.

DU advanced to 17-4, 13-1 on the season following this close battle that saw the score tied six times with eight lead changes.
