Rich Nets Career High 27 Points in 93-76 Win at Madonna

The redshirt junior also tied a school-record with seven three-pointers

LIVONIA, Mich. – It was a career night for redshirt junior Kevin Rich in a 93-76 win at Madonna University for the Davenport men's basketball team. Rich scored 27 points, besting his career high by two points, and tied a Davenport record with seven triples. He finished the game 8-for-12 from the floor including 7-for-9 from behind the arc. Rich grabbed seven rebounds in 32 minutes. Davenport went 10-for-20 as a team from behind the arc, which is the second-best percentage this season.

Senior Dominez Burnett scored 30 points marking the seventh time this season and 15th time in his career he has scored 30 or more points. Burnett recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 11 rebounds and he also had five assists and two steals in 32 minutes. Senior Wayne Bradford contributed 12 points, four assists and three steals in 25 minutes. Junior John McCloud tied a career-high with four assists and scored seven points before fouling out in 25 minutes. Davenport finished the game shooting 54.8 percent from the floor and 68.2 percent at the free throw stripe.

The Panthers came out firing and led 18-10 six minutes into the contest. Rich connected on three triples and Burnett hit another and also made a lay-up in the hot start. Rich's fifth three-pointer in the first 8:40 gave DU a 26-15 lead. The Crusaders got back into it trailing 33-30 with 5:29 left in the half after a fast-break lay-up by Zak Lewis. The Panthers held onto a 42-36 lead at halftime and scored 15 points off turnovers.

Davenport increased their lead to 50-39 less than two minutes into the second half. Burnett made two lay-ups and Bradford hit a jumper before a timeout by Madonna. DU kept up the offensive tempo and built their lead to 66-49 with 13:16 left in the game. The lead grew to 83-60 with seven minutes left after a dunk by Burnett. The Panthers scored 24 points in the paint in the second half and 14 points on the fast break. Davenport led for 38:43 out of 40 minutes in the contest.
