Panthers Make Quick Work Of The Saints As They Sweep Them 3-0

Davenport sweeps Siena Heights 3-0

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport makes quick work of the Saints as the Panthers sweep Siena Heights 3-0. The Panthers were on fire tonight as they won the first set and never looked back. The women's volleyball team is now 12-12 and heads into a couple crucial conference games over the next couple weeks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-SET SCORES: 25-17, 25-17, 25-22
-The Panthers came out super aggressive in the first set as they jumped out to an early 11-3 lead. Morgan Torres would serve for seven straight points to help create that lead. Davenport would score nine out of the last 14 points, topped off with a kill from Sarah Wendling.
-The second set had the same result as the first, Davenport would win 25-17. Maddy Cassleman would serve for six points throughout the set and Izzy Huntington would have eight kills during the set.
-Davenport would seal the deal with a 25-22 win in the third and final set. The Saints would lead 18-17 late in the set, then the Panthers would finish out strong as they won eight out of the last 14 points. Ashley VanderHorst landed the match winning kill.
-Huntington led DU with 11 kills.
-Sami White spent the whole night as the setter and dished up 36 assists.
-Jessica Marvin was the leader with five total blocks.
-Kasey Stehouwer tallied 21 digs on the night.

"It was nice to see a great team effort tonight" stated head Megan Lenhart "I felt like our defense had some great touches in the back row and our setting really got the Saints out of rhythm"
 
UP NEXT
The Panthers have a very quick turn around as they get one day to get mentally and physically prepared for their matchup against Indiana Tech on Friday. The Panthers will host the Warriors as the first serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
