Panthers Beat Northwestern Ohio In Five Sets

The first four sets were determined by two points and the Panthers broke loose in the last set for a 15-5 set win

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Panthers and Racers battled it out for five sets today and the Panthers came through with a solid fifth set to earn the win. The fifth set saw the Panthers pull away from the Racers as they won 15-5. Davenport improves to 13-13 on the year with only three regular season matches left.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-SET SCORES: 26-24, 23-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-5
-The first set was a back and forth battle as the biggest lead was four points. Davenport would win six out of the last eight points to solidify the set win.
-The Racers came out focused and aggressive in the second set as they jumped out to a 14-7 lead. Davenport would fight back and be down 23-22 late in the set. UNOH would win two out of the last three points to win the set.
-Davenport would prove resilient in the third set as the Panthers were down 21-17 late in the set. Krissy Dill had three kills over the last ten points and DU would win 25-23.
-The Racers would not go away as they would play tough and win the fourth set 25-23.
-The Panthers came out in the fifth set with determination and hunger for victory as they jumped out to an impressive 10-2 lead. Jessica Marvin would tally the match winning kill, assisted by Sami White.
-Dill notched 20 kills to lead the team.
-White had 48 assists as the setter.
-Kasey Stehouwer would lead DU with 22 digs.
 
COACHES CORNER
"The team had to battle hard for the win today" said head coach Megan Lenhart. "It was nice to see them rise to the challenge and get a victory".

 
UP NEXT
Davenport would win two out of their three matches this week and have three regular season matches left in the season. The Panthers travel to Aquinas College on Wednesday to take on the Saints at 7 p.m.
