FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Warriors snap the Panthers historic win streak with a 2-1 victory this Saturday afternoon in Indiana. Davenport is now 16-1-1 on the season and are guaranteed at least a share of the conference regular season title.
Davenport started off the game as they normally do, dominating on the offensive and defensive side of the ball.
Shameeka Fishley got the scoring started with a rocket in the 26
th minute of the first half. She dribbled the ball a few times and let it fly into the upper right corner of the net to put the Panthers on top 1-0 in the first half.
The Warriors came out with a pair of goals to start off the second period that stunned the Panthers. They scored in the opening minute of play and then again 9 minutes later in the 54
th minute of the game. Davenport would not be able to come back from those two goals as the final was 2-1 in favor of Indiana Tech.
The Panthers finish the regular season 16-1-1 and will enter the WHAC tournament as the #1 seed. Davenport awaits the outcome of the Northwestern Ohio game that takes place at 4:30 p.m. today. If the Racers lose or tie the game the Panthers will win the conference out right, if the Racers win then UNOH and Davenport will share the regular season conference title.
The Panthers WHAC conference tournament first round game will be played on Wednesday, November 2
nd at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex. The start time for the competition is yet to be determined.
