Davenport Routes Southern Illinois University Edwardsville 9-3

The Panthers pour it on late as they score five goals in the third period

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Panthers poured in a dominant performance with a 9-3 victory over Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Davenport would tally 20 goals over two games against the Cougars and only give up six goals in the process. The win extends the undefeated start to the season as the Panthers are now 4-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The first period was a whirlwind of action as each team would find the net three times. Davenport would score the opening two goals of the game, then the Cougars would come back and score two of their own in the ninth minute. Dugan Kelly would score two goals in the first period, his second goal was assisted by Branden Burton and Donald Sund.
-Both defenses improved dramatically in the second period as Davenport would only score one goal. Chris McRae would provide the game winning goal as he was assisted by Trevor Murray and Alex Stewart.
-The Panthers would capitalize on the offensive end as they scored five goals in the last period. Sund would score two, Murray, Jake Otto and Kyle Mazur all tallied one goal.
-Murray, Sund, and Kelly each had two goals apiece.
-Joe Ullstrome led the team in assists with four and penalty minutes with 16.
-Goaltender Devin Rosema racked up 60 minutes of play and stopped 17 of the 20 shots sent his way.

UP NEXT
The Panthers get an extended rest period as they get the next weekend off from games. Davenport will be back in action on the 21st and 22nd as they take on Ferris State University in a two game series.
