Panthers Set Points Record In 120-51 Thrashing Of Great Lakes Christian

Davenport wins by 69 points and sets record for most team points scored in a game

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Panthers stomped over Great Lakes Christian tonight and won by 69 points. Davenport set the school record for most team points scored in a game with 120. The record was originally set back in 2009, the Panthers scored 111 points against Kuyper College. Davenport also had four other team categories that were ranked in the programs top ten in history. Total field goals made (44) is ranked third, total assists (28) is tied for third, total field goals attempted (80) is fifth, and most rebounds (55) is tied for eighth.
 
The very first bucket for the Panthers tonight was an and one play by senior Dawid Czerniawski. The Panthers, after a lay-up by Javon Haines with 16:29 remaining in the game, would lead the rest of the game. Davenport built up a quick 12-point lead after a three pointer by Robbie Bramhill, assisted by Kevin Rich, in the first six minutes of play. The Panthers had ten different players clock five or more minutes, nine of those players would score a bucket in the first half. At the end of 20 minutes Davenport led The Lakes 58-26. The scoring for Davenport was all throughout the roster, Bramhill led with 11, Khadim Dieng (9), Cameron Burns (8), Czerniawski (7), Haines (6) and Rich got in the mix with six points.
 
In the second half the Panthers never let their foot off the gas as they cruised to a 62 point second half. The lead was quickly pushed to 41 points just five minutes into the half after two free throws by Rich. Bramhill hit back to back three point shots with just under four minutes to play to increase the lead to 59 points. The largest lead was 72 points after a made lay-up by Andia Marsh with just under a minute to play. Great Lakes Christian hit a three at the buzzer to cut the lead to 69 points with a final score of 120-59.
 
Five different Panthers scored in double digits tonight, Burns (10), Dieng (14), Czerniawski (15), Haines (18), and Bramhill led all scorers with 23 points. Haines and Czerniawski were extremely efficient as they combined for 33 points on 15/22 shooting and grabbed a combined 16 boards. Bramhill was DU's player of the game as he scored 23 points, shot 8/16 from the field, grabbed seven rebounds, had three steals, two assists and two blocks.
 
Davenport rests up tonight before a tough match-up against Dordt College tomorrow afternoon. The Defenders of Dordt College defeated the Racers of Northwestern Ohio tonight 62-60 after they hit a lay-up with just .9 seconds remaining on the clock. The game will be played at 3:00 p.m. in the DU Student Center.
