FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Upset city! The Panthers defeated the Warriors of Indiana Tech 3-1 tonight in the WHAC tournament quarterfinals in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Davenport was the underdog this match as DU was the fifth seed and Indiana Tech the fourth seed. The Warriors won the previous matchup between the two teams earlier in October, Indiana Tech beat the Panthers 3-0. However, much like the match tonight most of the sets were decided by only a couple points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-SET SCORES: 25-23, 23-25, 25-23, 25-19
-The Warriors came out in the first set and were playing like a team that had the higher seeding. Davenport found themselves down by three to five points for most of the set. DU was down 21-16 towards the end of the set when the Panthers had one clutch play after another. Davenport won nine of the last 11 points in the set to win 25-23 and take some of the momentum away from the Warriors and their fans.
-This match was dictated on runs and when those occurred. The second set was filled with runs and the Warriors pulled out the win. Davenport went on a four point run to lead 23-21, the Warriors came back with a four point run of their own to close it out and win 25-23.
-The third set was very pivotal. Davenport won the set and took the enthusiasm out of the Warriors fans as their team went down 2-1. Again the Warriors led late in the set, which prompted a Davenport run. DU won five out of the last six points to win 25-23 and go up 2-1.
-The Panthers carried momentum into the fourth set and jumped out to an early 5-2 lead after a five point run with
Morgan Torres serving. The Warriors would make a couple runs late, getting some encouragement from their fans. Davenport would hold onto the lead late to win the fourth set and the match.

The Panthers advance to the WHAC tournament semifinal game against Lourdes this Friday at 7:30 p.m. The match will be played at Lourdes University in Sylvania, Ohio. The winner of Davenport and Lourdes will take on the winner of Madonna and Cornerstone.
