The last time these two teams squared off, Davenport walked away with their first win over the DI school. A lot was on the line for the Panthers; they had never won against Indiana University and they also had never lost a home game at the Davenport Turf Field (an active streak that is at 20 games since the inaugural season in 2013). The Panthers opened the season up with a big, statement win over Indiana and used the opener as a momentum builder to eventually win eleven straight 15's matches, were crowned the DII Fall Champions, and punched their tickets to California in May.
The #1 ranked DII Panthers look to continue their successful year, but they have to play a very competitive squad in Indiana this week, who hold the #12 spot in DI Elite. Indiana "Redstorm" finished second in the Big Ten this fall season and were strong against opponents such as Notre Dame, University of Michigan and Ohio State University. They fell short in the Big Ten Championship game to the dynasty that is Penn State Women's Rugby. The Panthers look to repeat the results of their opening day match versus the Redstorm of Indiana and use it as a building block for DII Nationals, which are just over twenty days away.
