Wilson Career Day Gives Panthers a 10-6 win over Concordia

The outfielder set a school record with 3 triples and tied a school record with five hits

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - A wild ninth inning propelled the Davenport baseball team to a 10-6 win over Concordia at Cornerstone's De Witt Field on Tuesday night. The Panthers (41-14) have now advanced into the final three of the WHAC Tournament with back-to-back elimination wins. Davenport will now play on Wednesday at 2 p.m. against the loser of Indiana Tech and Madonna which starts at 11 a.m.

Davenport lost to Concordia by a run in the opening game of the tournament at home and looked like they might lose again before six runs in the top of the ninth. The Panthers were down to their final out when Logan Magsig bounced into a force out and the throw trying to turn the double play sailed out of play and allowed the winning run to score. DU added three more runs after that play which the umpires talked about at length after Brandon Cable's slide into second base. Zac Wilson had a monster game for DU setting the single-game record with three triples and he finished 5-for-6 which tied the single-game record for hits. Wilson started the ninth with a single to left center. Travis Bolin then singled through the left side. Keith Phillips entered the game on the mound for the Cardinals and pitched to Matt Priebe who bounced into a fielder's choice and Wilson was out at third. Brandon Larkin-Guilfoyle was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Austin Petravicius entered as a pinch runner for Larkin-Guilfoyle and then Cable was walked on four pitches. After the Magsig fielder's choice, J.P. North doubled down the left field line for a RBI. Jeremy Vasquez had an infield single and runners moved up on a throwing error. Wilson had his second single of the inning for a RBI this time.

Corey Sessions (6-1) got the win throwing the final 1.1 innings for DU. He struck out four and allowed just one hit. Corbin Clouse got the start and no-decision in 5.2 innings. He allowed four earned runs and five hits with four walks and eight strikeouts. North finished 3-for-4 with a walk.
