PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Panthers had to fight against two top-10 teams Saturday as they took on No.6 Midland and No. 7 Georgetown. DU fell by a pair of 3-0 scores despite takings each team to the final points.
Game one saw the Panthers battle to a 25-18, 25-12,25-14 score. Junior outside hitter
Krissy Dill recorded 12 kills to lead DU while she contributed to the defense with nine digs.
Sydney Tracer added 20 assists to add to the DU offense while she also totaled thee blocks and seven digs. The Panthers fought the highly-ranked Warriors, but saw their first setback of 2016 as they saw their record fall to 2-1.
In game two, the Panthers took on No. 7 Georgetown College. DU battled the Panthers to a 25-20 first set score before the Tigers took set two 25-12. The Panthers then turned a 9-6 deficit into a 11-6 advantage in set three as they looked to fight back into the game. The teams would trade points, but DU took a late 22-21 lead before the Tigers scored four of the final five points as the Panthers fell to 2-2 on the season.
Krissy Dill led the DU attack with eight kills and
Sydney Tracer added 22 assists. Tracer and Dill also combined to lead the Panther defense with 15 combined digs.
