BELLEVUE, Neb. - The women's volleyball team came away with a split of two matches on day one of the Bellevue Labor Day Classic with a 3-0 win over Culver-Stockton and a 3-1 loss to No. 20 Evangel.
The Panthers (3-3) took care of Culver-Stockton by scores of 25-17, 25-20, 25-19 and attacked .301 for the match (48 kills, 11 errors, 123 attacks). Three players were in double figures in kills led by 15 from
Krissy Dill.
Carly Nichols and
Izzy Huntington each tallied 11 for DU. Nichols hit .419 in 22 attacks while Dill hit .306 in 36 attacks.
Sydney Tracer had 39 assists and seven digs for the Panthers.
Kasey Stehouwer led the team with 18 digs followed by
Morgan Torres with 16.
Davenport won the first set against Evangel 25-20 but could not hold them off falling 14-25, 21-25, 21-25 the rest of the way. Evangel hit .206 for the match while DU hit .112. Jackie Fugate led Evangel with 22 kills and hit .478. Dill had 15 more kills in the second match and also contributed 16 digs.
Ashley VanderHorst had 12 kills and hit .281 in 32 attacks. Torres had a remarkable 29 digs and Tracer had 38 assists.
