ADRIAN, Mich. - The women's volleyball team dug themselves a hole in the first set and ultimately couldn't climb out of it in a four-set loss at Siena Heights on Wednesday. The Panthers dropped a 25-15 first set and hit .000 with nine kills, nine errors and 37 attacks. The Saints jumped out early with 14 kills, four errors and a .286 hitting percentage in the first set.
The Panthers had a better showing in the second set before falling 25-23. They hit .143 in the second set with 15 kills. Davenport kept the match alive with a 25-21 win in the third set. DU hit .314 with 17 kills while SHU hit .270 with 14 kills. Siena Heights closed out the match in the fourth set with a 25-20 win. The Saints and Panthers both had 15 kills in the final set.
Davenport slips to 3-7 overall and 0-2 in the WHAC while Siena Heights climbed to 7-3 overall and 1-1 in the WHAC. Paige Hudgin led all players with 19 kills for the Saints. Amanda Metz had 47 assists and eight digs.
Ashley VanderHorst led the Panthers with 15 kills and hit .281 for the match.
Sarah Wendling had a season-high 14 kills and hit .520.
Krissy Dill collected 13 kills and 20 digs.
Sydney Tracer registered 48 assists and 14 digs.
Kasey Stehouwer led the team with 24 digs.
