LIVONIA, Mich. - The women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision on Friday at No. 17 Madonna and after losing a tight first set (28-26) could not recover in falling 25-14 in the last two sets.
Davenport hit .319 in the first set with 19 kills but managed just 15 kills in the next two sets as the Crusaders improved to 13-3 overall and 3-0 in the WHAC. Madonna hit .330 for the match and were led by three different players with nine kills.
The Panthers had a 24-21 lead in the first set before two straight points by Madonna forced a DU timeout. Amanda Hawkins tied it on a kill and then
Sydney Tracer's kill gave DU another set point at 25-24. Hawkins again tied it and then Karlie Kelly's attack error gave DU a 26-25 lead. Madonna closed out with the last three points as Hannah Poole and Hawkins ended it with consecutive kills.
Krissy Dill led DU with 10 kills and also had 10 digs.
Ashley VanderHorst tallied nine kills and hit .381 in 21 attempts.
Sydney Tracer had 24 assists, six digs and three service aces. The Panthers will make a trip to Michigan-Dearborn for a 1 p.m. start tomorrow.
