GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - In just the second game of the year, Davenport picked up where they left off last game – with their foot on the gas pedal. The Panthers have never lost to a Great Lakes Conference team in the four years they have been a program, and this game wasn't any different.
First year Panthers made a large impact in addition to the veterans on the pitch. Freshman Tressa Kiem scored two tries at inside center, while former High School All-American
Hannah Garcia scored four tries from the 8-man & Flanker positions.
Kaitlin Throgmorton &
Olivia Ortiz both added a try a piece, with Ortiz going 5/5 for conversions.
Four-year starter and All-American
Danielle Ordway continued asserting her dominance by scoring seven tries, breaking her own individual single-game scoring record set last year of six trys versus Indiana University. Returning starter and graduate student
Madison Sparks also added a hat trick within 20 minutes of the match starting with some quick feet and smooth moves on the wing.
Hunter Moreland added two and
Brenna Donahue added another, but her presence was felt all over the pitch, as she broke off multiple long runs during the match going through multiple defenders.
The Panthers look ahead to another Great Lakes Conference showdown in Grand Rapids, versus the Lakers at Grand Valley State University.
