HOW IT HAPPENED
-SET SCORES: 17-25, 17-25, 13-25
-Towards the beginning of the first set DU was hanging in with the Prairie Stars. The set was tied at 6-6 and 10-10. Illinois-Springfield scored four un-answered to take a 14-11 lead and a five point run to make the score 19-13. Davenport couldn't string enough points together to erase those couple runs and UIS won the set 25-17.
-The Prairie Stars got off to an early lead in the second set after a five point run that gave them a 7-3 lead. Davenport got a nice run of their own in the middle of the set and was capped off by a block assist by
Ashley VanderHorst and
Jenn Kay Vander Meer. UIS had a 17-14 lead before they scored three straight points and then had a 20-14 lead. A couple late points by Davenport wasn't enough to complete the comeback.
-In the third set it was all UIS, they jumped out to a 9-2 lead after a service ace. The Prairie Stars had five runs of three points or more during the 25-13 set win.
