WESTVILLE, Ind. – Davenport didn't have much time in-between their game on Friday and today's game against Rockhurst, just under 18 hours to be exact. The short turn around had no effect on the Panthers as they pummeled Rockhurt by 20 points. The Panthers picked it up tremendously on the defensive side of the basketball, holding the Hawks to only 18 made field goals for the game. Freshman
Delano Smith had a major impact on the game for DU with his 20 points on 8/14 shooting from the field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Davenport opened the game on the right foot as senior
John McCloud Jr. won the opening tip and scored a layup on DU's first offensive possession of the game. After a layup by
Wes Webbert the Panthers and Hawks were tied up 6-6. Davenport proceeded to go on a 12-3 run, which was capped off by a three-pointer by
Robbie Bramhill. With 5:53 left in the half Davenport took an 11-point lead when Smith scored in the paint. Over the final 5:53 DU edged out the Hawks in scoring 13-11 to take a 13-point lead at halftime.
To open the second half Davenport went on a eight point run, which included multiple scores by Smith in the paint. The Hawks strung together a couple buckets in the middle of the half and cut the lead down to single digits with 10:46 left in the game. The Panthers quickly increased the lead back to double digits by going on a 13-2 run. A late three point shot by the Hawks brought them over 50 points for the game. Davenport protected their lead well throughout the game.
Smith led the Panthers in scoring with 20 points and grabbed four rebounds. Bramhill was the only other Davenport player in double figures scoring with 15 points on 5/9 shooting from the field. Davenport had a great team effort on the boards as seven different players recorded three or more rebounds in the game. The Panthers outrebounded Rockhurst 36-24 on the glass.
UP NEXT
The Panthers will be in action again next weekend on a familiar playing surface. Davenport will have three non-conference home games from November 16-20 against Silver Lake College, Goshen College and Grace Bible College.
