GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport women's basketball team was defeated by Grand Valley State, 75-41, on Saturday afternoon in the first GLIAC meeting between the schools. Davenport (1-6, 0-2) shot 30.2 percent from the floor while the Lakers shot 43.9 percent including 50 percent in the first and fourth quarters.
The contest was back-and-forth for the first five minutes before the Lakers went on a 10-0 run to end the first quarter. Grand Valley State had nine points off turnovers compared to zero for the Panthers in the quarter.
The Lakers grew their lead to as many as 24 in the second quarter and took a 37-15 lead into halftime. 21 points was the closest deficit in the third quarter for Davenport.

Jenna Falkenberg each scored eight points to lead the team. Severn also grabbed seven rebounds and had two assists.
Rylie Stiles contributed six points and three boards off the bench with seven minutes.
Claire Austin set a season-high with three blocks in 13 minutes. The Lakers were led by Jenn DeBoer and Taylor Parmley each with 16 points.Â
