ASHLAND, Ohio – The Davenport women's basketball team had their hands full on Saturday (Dec. 9) as they fell 96-50 at No. 1 Ashland. The Eagles improved to 10-0 overall and 4-0 in the GLIAC and also won their 47th consecutive game. Davenport stands at 2-7 overall and 1-3 in the conference. Ashland's 96 points and 48.8 percent shooting were both season-highs allowed by the Panthers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Panthers'
Jenna Falkenberg scored the first points of the game and led for 14 seconds of the game. Ashland then went on a 10-0 run over the next three minutes to take the lead for good. Ashland led 26-10 after the first quarter with 16 points in the paint and 13 points off turnovers.
-The Eagles increased their lead to 55-21 at halftime and used the fast-break to their advantage with a 10-0 edge in the quarter. DU shot 25 percent in the quarter (4-of-16) but were 3-of-6 from the arc. DU did not attempt a free throw in the first half compared to three for the Eagles.
-The Panthers were outscored 26-18 in the third quarter for their highest scoring quarter of the contest. Davenport shot 47.1 percent (8-of-17) from the floor in the third quarter.
-The Panthers finished the game with 11 points in the fourth quarter and shot 33.9 percent for the game (21-of-62). They did not fare well from the free throw line going 3-of-9 in the second half which was a season-low.
INSIDE THE BOX
-Davenport played all 14 student-athletes in the contest and 11 of those scored in the game.

Emily Severn led the team with eight points and grabbed three rebounds.

Claire Austin had a season-high two assists and blocked two shots.

Kortney Deurloo tied a career-high with two steals.

Leighten Koepke (3) each had a career-high in points.

Courtney McInerney blocked a season-high two shots.
-Falkenberg grabbed 10 rebounds and scored six points. She reached double-digits in rebounds for the second time this season.
-Ashland assisted on 31 of their 40 field goals and recorded 17 steals.
-Laina Snyder recorded a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds in 24 minutes for AU.
-Jodi Johnson went 10-of-15 from the floor to finish with 21 points and also chipped in eight rebounds, eight steals and four assists with no turnovers.
UP NEXT
-The Panthers return home on Wednesday, Dec. 13 as they will play Governors State (NAIA) at 5:30 p.m. The Jaguars are currently 3-8 overall.
