HOW IT HAPPENED
The opening ten minutes of action saw little defense from both teams as the score was 25-22, in the Cardinals favor, with just under ten minutes to play in the half. The Panthers picked up their defensive intensity and focus as they gave up only 12 points during the rest of the half. Davenport also was able to score 19 points in the last ten minutes to take a four-point lead heading into half. Dieng had a solid first half with eight points and six rebounds, both of those led DU for the half.
Concordia came out in the first couple minutes of the second half with some pep in their step as they scored six un-answered points. Davenport took back the lead after a made field goal by
Thomas Hood and the Panthers would hold the lead for the rest of the half. Hood was an energizer bunny tonight as he grabbed four rebounds and scored eight points all in the second half. The rest of the team fed off of Hood's energy and scored 50 points in the half.
For the second consecutive game the Panthers had four players score in double digits. Haines had 13 points on 4/8 from the field. Dieng had 14 points and led the team with nine rebounds. Both Gamble and Rich scored 16 points to lead DU. Gamble had 16 points, seven assists and five rebounds. Rich had 16 points on extremely efficient 5/6 from the field.
