AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The baseball team came off a big win yesterday against previously unbeaten Southeastern (Fla.) but could not find the same winning formula on Wednesday with a 7-5 loss to Judson at Lake Myrtle Park.
Adam Biss got his first start of the season but lasted just three innings. He allowed five hits and two earned runs in addition to three walks and a strikeout. Ty Parquette of Judson threw a solid game going seven innings to get his first win of the season for the Eagles (6-4). Nate Peterson recorded a save throwing the final two innings with a strikeout.
Davenport trailed 6-0 after five innings and made a bid at the comeback with a run in the sixth and four more in the eighth. The Panthers had the bases full in the ninth after two singles and an error but a flyout ended the contest with the tying run at second.
Will Harris had the clutch hit in the top of the eighth with a bases-clearing triple to right center scoring
Nolan Page,
Jacob Buchberger and
Aaron Fadden. The Panthers stranded 10 runners in the game. Davenport falls to 11-6 on the season and will face Webber International tomorrow at 7 p.m. in a single nine-inning affair in Babson Park, Fla.
