MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Davenport baseball team had the unique opportunity to play inside US Bank Stadium, home of the Minnesota Vikings, early Saturday morning. The Panthers played Midland (Neb.) in a doubleheader that started around 6:45 a.m. ET and the teams split with Davenport winning 3-2 in game one before falling 10-6 in game two.
Davenport was the home team in game one and
Nolan Page added an exclamation point on the win with a walk-off home run to right field to lead off the bottom of the seventh. Davenport scored single runs in the second and third innings. Midland scored once in the third and then tied the game in the seventh. Cole Gray had a two-out double off
Jonathan Cheshire who blew the save but picked up his first win of the season.
Grant Wolfram got the start going five innings and allowing four hits in the no-decision. Wolfram fanned eight batters and walked just one. Cheshire tossed the final two innings allowing two hits with one strikeout.
Brandon Larkin-Guilfoyle and
Jeremy Vasquez each collected an RBI in game one as DU had just four hits off starter Daylon Owens. He walked two and struck out four while allowing three earned runs.
The Panthers scored three runs in the top of the first in game two and added a run in the second for a 4-1 lead. Midland chipped away with two runs in the third which ended the day for DU starter
Justin Palmbos. He allowed five hits and three earned runs with a walk and four strikeouts. Davenport regained a run in the fourth for a 5-3 advantage but then the Warriors scored the next seven runs including five in the sixth to pull away. Cheshire had a rough outing facing five batters with four of them getting a hit. He took the loss (1-2) and was charged with four earned runs. Brett Nice got the win going 3.1 relief innings for Midland. He yielded four hits and one run with two walks and five strikeouts. Alex Bee collected four RBI for the Warriors with a pair of doubles.
Jimmy Filipski recorded a triple and RBI for the Panthers.
Brian Sobieski hit a solo home run going 2-for-4 in game two.

Oscar Heredia and Page also had a RBI for DU. The top four hitters in the Midland lineup collected eight of the team's 13 hits and eight of the team's nine RBI.
