ADRIAN, Mich. - The Davenport baseball team posted their seventh and eighth straight Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference wins in a doubleheader sweep at Siena Heights on Friday. The Panthers improved to 19-10 overall and 11-3 in the WHAC with 11-1 and 8-3 victories on the Saints home field.
Grant Wolfram continued his dominance on the mound in game one while Krystien Johnson-Batillana turned in a solid start in game two. Reigning WHAC Player of the Week
Brian Sobieski did not slow down with three hits and five RBI in the twinbill.
Austin Petravicius also scored three runs and drove in four on the day.
GAME 1
The Panthers used a seven-run second inning en route to the 11-1 win in seven innings. Sobieski belted a solo homer to left center to start the inning and then
Will Harris made it back-to-back jacks over the left field wall.
Anthony DiPonio followed with a double and later Petravicius had a RBI single to right.
Andrew Figueroa collected a RBI single and
Nolan Page lifted a sacrifice fly to right. Sobieski made it two and three RBI in the inning with a double to left. DU had seven hits in the frame.
DU added four more runs in the fifth inning highlighted by a
Jeremy Vasquez RBI single. Wolfram gave up an unearned run in the sixth on a passed ball scoring Freddy Jehle. Wolfram went the distance and now has given up two earned runs in his last 32 innings of work to lower his season ERA to 2.26. He improved to 7-1 on the mound this season and allowed just two hits with six strikeouts. Vasquez finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored and is batting a team-high .383 through 29 games.
GAME 2
Johnson-Batillana provided another quality start for the Panthers improving to 5-1 with a 1.85 ERA this season in 39 innings. He gave up just one earned run and three hits in six innings and struck out five.
Caleb Leach gave up five hits in 2.2 innings of work but did strike out six with no walks.
Jonathan Cheshire got the final out striking out his only batter faced.
DU scored once in the first and fourth for a 2-0 lead. They added three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to open a 7-0 lead. The Saints got three runs back in the seventh and then the Panthers added another run in the ninth. Kyle Kuhr yielded 10 hits in five innings for Siena Heights and saw six earned runs cross the plate.

Matt Hoge each had two hits in the nightcap for DU. Filipski, Sobieski and Figueroa each had a double while Filipski and Hoge also had a triple.
