Tasma's walk off home run helps DU split double header against Madonna

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport split their double header vs Madonna 1-1 during a low scoring series. Both the teams are at the top of the WHAC standings and showed why tonight. The Crusaders won the first game of the double header 2-0 and only recorded one hit that was a double or better during the game. Lindsay Tasma won the second game for DU with a walk off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Both teams only have two losses in conference play after todays games.

Emily Maves (L, 13-1) 7 IP, 4 H, 2 R, ER, 0 BB, 6 SO

The Panthers offense struggled during the first game of the double header. Davenport was limited to only four hits during the game, was never walked and couldn't score a run. Despite the low number of hits Davenport still had a couple opportunities to score and were just un-able to convert. In the first inning French advanced to second on a sac fly from Rowe and then the next two batters popped up and lined out to leave her stranded. In the bottom of the seventh inning Obetts hit a single to give DU life, however the next batter grounded out to end the game.

Tasma crushed a home run in the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs to help DU take the win. Teunissen was a monster on the mount, only giving up four hits and striking out nine batters during the game. Tasma also broke the school record for the most times getting hit by a pitch in a single game. She was hit three times during the second game against the Crusaders.
