GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Panthers split their doubleheader vs. Lawrence Tech last night after multiple weather delays. Right before game one was about to start there was a lightning strike detected within 10 miles of the stadium, therefore there was an automatic 30-minute delay. After laying the tarp and waiting out the rain that ensued after the lightning strike DU finally started game one at 4:45 p.m. Flores proved to be a force during game one, hitting a three run home run during the third inning to give Davenport a four run lead. The offense struggled for the Panthers in the second game as no runs were scored.

In the bottom of the third inning French led off with a single up the middle and Rowe followed that up with a single to left field. Flores stepped up to the bag after a pop up by Tasma and she proceeded to go yard, hitting the scoreboard in the air. Her three RBI's increased the Panthers lead to four runs. In the second game things were flipped around. Davenport struggled on the offensive end while the Blue Devils took advantage of scoring opportunities. In the bottom of the fifth inning Allen gave DU a scoring opportunity as she doubled to left field with two outs. The next batter up flied out to left field to end the inning. The big play of the game was during the bottom of the sixth inning. French started off the inning with a single through the right side. Rowe popped out to the third base player and French advanced to second on a throwing error by the third base player. Flores came up to the plate with two outs in the inning and hit a hard ground ball to the short stop. The ball took a nasty bounce high and the short stop had trouble possessing the bouncing ball. French advanced to third on the hit and then rounded third to head home. The short stop scooped up the ball and tossed a bullet towards the plate. French slid into home and the umpire called her out on the tag. The game would have been tied one to one run if she was called safe.
