GLENDALE, Colo. – The Panthers had a tough time during the pool play portion of the national tournament, falling to all three teams that they face. In the first game DU faced Penn State and lost 41-5, the next game they fell to Army 38-0 and the last game they barely were defeated by Princeton 17-14.
 
Davenport bounced back in the knockout rounds and took Montana State in the first game. The Panthers beat them 24-12 and advanced to the bowl final. In the bowl final Davenport took on Princeton again and showed no mercy. The Panthers rounded out their 2016-2017 season with a route of Princeton 27-0.
