Teunissen had a shaky start to the game as there was runners on second and third with only one out in the bottom of the first. She quickly adjusted and struck out the next two batters and never looked back for the remainder of the game. The game winning run was scored in the third inning by Lindsay Reed. Allen singled to center field and Reed came in to pinch run for her. Rowe was next up and hit a SAC bunt towards the pitcher that advanced Reed to second. Tasma stepped up to the plate and singled to left center, scoring Reed from second. Davenport struck again offensively in the top of the fourth inning. Brambila, who has a stellar on base percentage of .556 during the World Series, singled down the left field line in the fourth. She then stole second and scored off a single by Crawford to left field. Through five complete innings DU held a 2-0 lead and Teunissen had seven strikeouts. A big turning point of the game was in the top of the sixth inning. Eastman walked up to the plate with one out and absolutely crushed a triple to right field, Selene Pauley then came in to pinch run for Eastman. Brambila was next up and hit a pop up to the short stop just behind second base. Pauley tagged up and ran the short distance from third to home to give DU a three run lead heading into the bottom of the sixth. Teunissen struck out two batters in the bottom of the sixth and after six complete innings the Panthers led 3-0. Davenport added a security run in the top of the seventh off of a double by Tasma to left center that scored Allen from second base. Teunissen took care of business in the bottom of the seventh, recording her 10th strikeout on the last batter of the game.
