LIMA, Ohio - The Davenport baseball team has won their first two games of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament after a 13-1 win over Concordia on Monday morning. The Panthers picked up their 40th win and also extended their win streak to 16 games by collecting 20 hits including six doubles en route to the victory. The team will now await results of games being played currently to decide their next time and opponent.
Andrew Click got tremendous run support but didn't need much as he tossed seven innings and allowed five hits and one earned run. He improved to 7-2 this season but did experience command issues with five walks and just one strikeout. Hunter Klaassen got the start for Concordia and surrended four runs on nine hits in four innings. Tyler Steele and Brandon Waack did not fare any better giving up nine more runs in the final five innings of relief.
Caleb Leach and
Brady VanSloten each had a relief inning allowing no runs, one hit and striking out one. Davenport scored two runs in the second and fourth innings and then blew it open with three runs in the fifth and six more in the ninth. For the second straight game of the tournament, DU did not make an error.
Nolan Page hit his 11th double of the season and had a RBI.
Austin Petravicius hit leadoff and went 3-for-5 with four RBI tying his season-high.
Brian Sobieski went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a pair of doubles putting him at 19 this season (tied for 3rd in a season at DU).
Cameron Bair went 2-for-3 with a run, RBI and two walks.
Jeremy Vasquez hit his 10th double of the season finishing 2-for-5 with two RBI.
Matt Hoge had a big game in the nine-hole of the lineup going 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBI.
