SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio. - The women's rugby team opened their season on the road against rival Notre Dame College and met the challenge head on. After giving up 14 points to the Falcons to start off the game Davenport rallied off 31 un-answered points.
The Panthers started a very young squad today, throwing them into the fire. After getting their feet underneath them the team started to flow pretty well, getting the ball in Dani Ordway's hands.
Danielle Ordway was a difference maker in this game, she continued her All-American play time and time again.
"I felt we controlled possession most of the half" stated head coach
Greg Teliczan. "We lost the the ball time after time in the breakdown due to late support and pour body positioning. We had the advantage in the scrums and should have used them more but again with youth and players playing out of position we were slow to figure it out. With Ordway's hard runs and support from our backline and forward pack we were able to put across 31 unanswered points against a very top level NCAA program".
