DETROIT, Mich. – Davenport went on the road to take on Wayne State for the second time this season and were unable to drive home with a victory. The Warriors held Davenport to 56 points on the night, which is the second lowest scoring output for DU this season. The Panthers shot 21.4% (6/28) from beyond the arc and 50% (6/12) from the free throw line on the night. Davenport will host Tiffin and Ashland this upcoming week at the DU Student Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Davenport held a small lead over the Warriors during the first four minutes of play. The Panthers went up 8-5 after
Delano Smith hit his third basket of the game. Wayne State on a five point run over the next four minutes to take the lead back.
Janeau Joubert responded with a three pointer during the mid way point of the half to help DU retake the lead 11-10. The Warriors heated up over the next few minutes and took a seven-point lead with 7:21 left in the half. Over the next couple Davenport possessions
Nick Malonga had back to back old fashioned three point plays to bring the Warriors lead down to three points. With 2:56 left in the half
Wes Webbert finished a layup to cut the lead down to two points 24-26. The Warriors hit a three with only one second left on the clock to give them a seven-point lead.
Wayne State opened the second half on an 8-3 run and took a 12-point lead with 16:10 to play in regulation. The Panthers struggled to string baskets together in the second half while getting stops, which resulted in Davenport trailing by at least seven points the entire half. Davenport cut the lead down to seven points with 9:51 in the half after a layup by
John McCloud. Wayne State went 7/8 from the charity stripe during the last five minutes of play to not give DU many chances.
Smith scored a team high 12 points on 6/13 from the field and Joubert scored 10 points on 4/10 shooting.
Orlando Little grabbed a team high seven rebounds and
Robbie Bramhill had six rebounds while adding nine points.
UP NEXT
Davenport hosts Tiffin on Thursday and then Ashland on Saturday at the DU Student Center. The Panthers will look to gain their first victory against Ashland this season and try to sweep Tiffin.
