SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Panthers had a change in pace as they took on one of the top teams in D1. Davenport went to Notre Dame, who was ranked third in the country in the latest national poll, and proved to the nation why they are worthy of the number one team. The Panthers snagged a 54-7 victory over Notre Dame to remain undefeated on the season.
Each team traded big hard hits and punishing runs during the opening 10 minutes of play. Page Gross had a smashing tackle of an Irish ball carrier that resulted in a turnover,
Olivia Ortiz picked up the ball and diced her way through the Notre Dame defense for the first score of the match.
Megan Bird followed shortly after on a nifty run that was set up by the tight five and Davenport never looked back.
