WESTVILLE, Ind. – The women's basketball team at Davenport was looking to pull off a road win on Thursday (Feb. 8), but ran out of gas in an 86-75 double overtime loss at Purdue Northwest in GLIAC action. The two newcomers to the league went toe-to-toe but the Pride dominated the second overtime outscoring DU 11-0 for just their fourth win (third in GLIAC) this season. The Pride also took both games this season against the Panthers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The teams combined to shoot 145 field goals in the game which featured seven ties and six lead changes. Purdue Northwest led for 29:49 of the contest while Davenport led for 14:26.
-Davenport did not score a field goal for the final 7:21 of game time from overtime into double overtime. Davenport (7-15, 5-10 GLIAC) dropped their seventh straight game and are hoping to qualify for the GLIAC Tournament as the top eight teams will compete in the postseason.
-The Panthers trailed 18-15 after the first quarter. DU shot 6-of-16 from the floor but just 1-of-5 at the foul line. The Pride shot 4-of-11 behind the arc.
-Davenport led 32-29 at halftime and took the lead at the six-minute mark of the quarter. They held the lead until Shae Rhonehouse tied it up at 29 with 1:10 left.
Amanda Merz canned a triple in the closing seconds of the half to give DU a three-point advantage.
-The Panthers looked in control in the third quarter building their largest lead of the game at 40-32 after a
Jenna Falkenberg layup. Purdue Northwest however fought back with a 10-3 run over a two-minute plus period to cut the deficit to 43-42 with 3:42 left in the quarter. The Pride eventually took a 48-47 lead with 1:03 left in the third on a Danielle Nennig fast-break bucket.
-PNW led the entire fourth quarter until the 2:21 mark when Merz scored on the fast break to tie it at 63. The Pride led 67-64 after a pair of Bayley Goodman free throws with 13 seconds left, when Merz raced upcourt and dropped in a three-pointer with seven ticks left to send the game into overtime.

Emily Severn made a three-pointer to start overtime before Lanie Allen then made four straight free throws for PNW. The teams traded free throws for most of overtime and the game was tied at 75 with 1:19 on the clock. Neither team would score for the rest of overtime as
Martyna Pioro had a chance to win it, but her triple fell short as time expired.
-The Pride scored all 11 points in double overtime as Davenport went 0-of-8 from the floor including 0-of-3 behind the arc. The fouls were 6-0 against Davenport in the second extra session as the Pride went 9-of-12 at the foul line. Nennig scored six points in double overtime and had the team's only field goal.
INSIDE THE BOX
-The final free throw tally was Purdue Northwest going 31-of-45 while Davenport was 10-of-16. The Pride were 15-of-20 in both overtime periods while DU was 3-of-4.
-Falkenberg recorded her third double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds. She also blocked four shots in 30 minutes.

Hannah Wilkerson scored a season-high 15 points including 6-of-7 at the foul line.
-Pioro scored a career-high 16 points to go with three rebounds and three assists.
-Severn scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds. She also made four three-pointers and recorded four assists with just one turnover.
-It was the first double overtime game for Davenport since Jan. 18, 2012 when they defeated Cornerstone (78-70).
