HERE COMES THE ARSENAL
Davenport came out looking to bury the Wildcats in the opening minute of the game, as they began to pepper Northern Michigan goaltender Jake Vandenberg just like they did on Friday night.
DU was able to break through just before the five-minute mark, as Seymour picked up a rebound after a Jaenicke wrap-around attempt, and slid a backhander through Vandenberg to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
STEALING THE SHOW
The Panthers would earn a power play chance later on in the period. Despite garnering a plethora of chances, Vandenberg was able to shut the door. The Wildcats' netminder robbed
Jacob Demeter and
Evan Carroll with three magnificent saves. Even though the Panthers out shot the Wildcats 18-5 in the first period, they only had a one-goal lead.
FILLING THE NET
Davenport was not going to be denied in the second period. While the Wildcats were on the power play,
Tyler Majewski took advantage of a Northern Michigan error, walked in on a breakaway and scored his first of the season to put DU up by two.
Just a few minutes later, while on a delayed penalty,
Spencer Sandberg fed a beautiful saucer pass from behind the goal to Murray, who directed the puck into the back of the net for his third of the season.
On the ensuing power play 51 seconds later,
Kyle Mazur floated a wrister that was initially stopped by Vandenberg, but it bounced off his defenseman and into the net to make it a four-goal game.
51 seconds after that, on the power play once again, Demeter banged in a rebound to score his third goal of the season.
The Panthers would continue to bury the biscuit, as Seymour scored his second of the game with a beautiful wrister over the glove of Vandenberg, followed up by a one-timer goal from Majewski after a nice play from
Adam Hulsey and Newton.
Demeter tallied another goal with just under two minutes to send the Panthers to the break with an 8-0 lead.
CAPPING OFF THE WEEKEND
DU continued to run up the scoreboard in the third period. Seymour scored his hat trick goal before the three-minute mark.
Jeff Rahilly tipped in a Montmarquette point shot for his fourth goal of the season.
Right before the halfway mark of the period,
Quentin Roseboom tapped home a rebound for his first goal as a Panther to put the Panthers up by 11. That was followed up shortly thereafter by Majewski's third of the game, and Heyboer scored his second 26 seconds later.
Bode Buseth scored his second of the weekend to put the Wildcats on the board. Then, in the dying minutes, Majewski would score his fourth of the game, and the Panthers would win their fourth game in a row by a final score of 14-1.
WHO'S NEXT?
