No. 14 Ferris State Snaps Davenport Winning Streak

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - No. 14 Ferris State proved to be too much to handle for the Davenport University women's volleyball team on Saturday afternoon inside the DU Student Center. The Bulldogs swept the Panthers and brought their four-match winning streak to an end.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
- Davenport enjoyed just five leads for the entire match, all of which came in the third set.

- In the first set, it was all Ferris State as the Bulldogs hit an absurd .519 with 14 kills and no errors on 27 total attacks.

- That was just the start of it for the away team as it hit .388 for the day, the second-highest mark for a DU opponent this season.

- There was just one tie in the first period, 1-1, but the visitors led it by as many as nine at 24-15 and 25-16.

- In the second set, just like the first, the one deadlock was at 1-1, but Ferris State had an advantage as large as seven at 9-2 and 10-3.

- In a tight third that went to extra serves, there were 13 ties along with six lead changes.

- Once it was tied for a final time at 24-24, Ferris State scored the final two points to win the set and match in straight sets.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Offensively, Davenport was led by Hayley Kreiger (13 kills), Sami White (32 assists) and Jenna Asper (two service aces).

- On the defensive end, Kendra DeJonge dug out 13 attempts and Riley Groves notched a pair of blocks.

- For Ferris State, Allyson Cappel carried the Bulldogs with 22 kills and only two errors on 36 swings for a red-hot hitting percentage of .556.

Davenport will compete in the Midwest Region Crossover on Oct. 18-19 in Indianapolis, Ind. at The Academy Volleyball Club.
