GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Panthers returned home after a couple of road games and the familiar field played in favor of DU. Davenport took on Notre Dame, in their home-finale, and defeated them 45-29. The team is now 3-3 on the season and looks to begin a win streak before the USA Rugby D1 15's National Tournament.
Notre Dame came out and gave DU everything they could handle and then some. Davenport found themselves in a 22-5 deficit late in the first half. The Panthers regrouped and finished the half trailing 22-17. After some minor halftime adjustments, Davenport rallied behind
Mariah Pruitt,
Adara Benton and
Ashleigh DeWitt, scoring 28 unanswered points. Notre Dame score a late try, but the Panthers had already put the game out of reach and secured the victory.
