Davenport Wins Fourth Straight; Bramhill Scores 1,000th Point

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Davenport turned in another stellar second-half effort on Saturday against Truman and outscored the Bulldogs 45-29 in those 20 minutes en route to a fourth-straight victory, 88-66. Thanks to that effort, the Panthers have outscored their opponents 136-97 in the second half in the last three games.

Evan Hines scored a game-high 16 points for his fourth double-figure effort of the season while going 4-of-9 from behind the arc. Next up in the scoring department was Chris Rollins who poured in 14 points to go with eight assists, which ties his career high, and only two turnovers in a team-high 32 minutes played. Robbie Bramhill needed just five points to become the program's seventh 1,000-point scorer and finished with 12. In the exclusive club, Bramhill is accompanied by Dominez Burnett (2,858 points), JaVontae Ford (1,902), Kevin Rich (1,765), James Nelson (1,753), Nathan Cox (1,752), and Nick Gamble (1,185). Also finishing in double-figures for Davenport on Saturday was Jarrin Randall with 11.

The first half was a tight one that saw six ties and four lead changes. For the Bulldogs, their leads were brief and came at 15-12 and 23-22. As for the Panthers, they led by as many as seven, 43-36, prior to the halftime advantage of six, 43-37. Davenport made just one more field goal than Truman, 14-13, but the difference came from long range where the Panthers made three more triples than the Bulldogs, 7-4.

Switching gears to the second half, Davenport once again was able to get it going out of the intermission. Truman's Cade McKnight made a layup at the 13:20 mark that gave his team the lead for the final time, 53-52. The Panthers then responded with a 23-6 run that lasted nearly seven minutes and took all the wind out of the Bulldogs' sails. During that span, seven different players scored for DU, including 11 of Hines' 16, and the Panthers converted on eight of their 12 field goal attempts. After that, Truman was never closer than 12, 75-63, and Davenport led by as many as 23, 86-63 and 88-65.

As a team, Davenport dished out a season-high 23 assists to just 11 turnovers and seven different players finished with a dime. In the team head-to-head, the Panthers were dominant in points off turnovers (28-11), second-chance scoring (14-2) and bench points (45-11).

Next up, Davenport will be at Hillsdale on Nov. 23 with the opening tip set for 1 p.m.
