NASHVILLE, Tenn. - In his 102nd career game and 22nd start as a Panther, senior sharp shooter
Robbie Bramhill would not be stopped at Trevecca Nazarene. Saturday afternoon against the Trojans, Bramhill racked up a career-high 27 points and splashed in a school-record eight three-pointers as the Panthers rolled, 75-51.
In the final game of 2019, Davenport improved to 9-4 overall, 7-2 in non-conference affairs and picked up its first true road win of the season. The rest of the Panthers' regular season will consist of the final 17 GLIAC games and begins with a trip to Lake Superior State on Jan. 2 at 7:30 p.m.
Bramhill's 27 points are the most by a Panther this season, 17 of which came in the first half, and his eight rebounds were the game high. The 6-8 forward was joined in double-figures by three others including
Evan Hines (16),
Tafari Beckford (13) and
Chris Rollins (10). Beckford dished out a team-high five assists and
Nestor Daboin blocked two shots while Bramhill and
Chris Pearl notched two steals apiece.
Trevecca led Davenport, 7-5, at the 17:41 mark of the first half before the Panthers reeled off an 18-5 run that put them ahead by 11, 23-12, with just over 11 minutes left in the half. Bramhill scored 11 of his 27 points in that stretch alone. After that, the Trojans could never get closer than nine (21-12 and 23-14) and the Panthers were ahead by as many as 20 (37-17). In the second half, Davenport kept the pressure on with a lead as big as 26 (75-49) before the final 24-point margin.
After making 10 or more three-pointers just twice in the first eight games, Davenport has reached that mark in five-straight outings including 12 (12-for-30) on Saturday. The Panthers also made at least 90 percent of their free-throw attempts for the first time this season after going 11-for-12 (91.7 percent) against the Trojans.
