CALEDONIA, Mich. – The Panthers were ecstatic to be on their home field for the first time this season. Davenport welcomes the Cavaliers of Walsh University into the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex for the Panthers final non-conference games of the season. The offense for Davenport put up great numbers, scoring 11 runs in the first game and another 10 in the second game. The pitching backed up the offense in the first game by only allowing one run, but the Cavaliers exploded for 16 runs in the second game. The split puts Davenport at a 9-10 overall record this season.

Walsh got on the board first, scoring off a single in the top of the first. Davenport held the Cavaliers scoreless in innings two through five. In addition, the Panthers poured in 11 runs over the first three innings of play. Eight of the runs were scored on just three plays, all being home runs. Griffin got things started with an inside the park home run in the bottom of the first, scoring Merice, Cura, and herself. In the second inning, Cura homered to left field, scoring Crawford, French and herself. The Panthers recorded their third home run in three innings when Flores homered to right center, scoring
Selene Pauley and herself. The lead grew to 10 later in the inning when Palazzolo doubled to right center, scoring French and Koza. Miller stood her own on the mound, going the distance and striking out four, while only giving up one run.

The second game of the doubleheader provided the audience with an abundance of runs, mostly for the Cavaliers of Walsh University. Walsh scored three or more runs in inning number two, three, four, and five. The Cavaliers scored 16 runs in the game on 17 hits. Davenport held their offensively, recording 17 hits and scoring 10 runs on those. However, the offense for Walsh was too much for the Panthers to overcome, as they fell by six runs to split the series 1-1.

Davenport has a busy rest of the week ahead of them. The Panthers play four conference doubleheaders over the next six days. Davenport will face Ferris State at home on Wednesday and Parkside on Thursday. The Panthers will then travel to Northwood on Saturday and Grand Valley on Sunday.
