GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The 2019 D2CCA All-Midwest Region Softball Teams have been determined, with voting conducted by the regions sports information directors. Only 14 student-athletes earned first team honors and 14 earned second team honors.
 
True freshman Gabby Palazzolo earned a spot on the second team as a second baseman. Palazzolo is the lone athlete representing DU this year on the D2CCA All-Region teams. She is one of only three freshman to land a spot on either the first or the second team. Palazzolo started in 52 games this season and recorded 58 hits in 169 at bats (.343), she scored 41 runs, hit 12 doubles, one triple, four home runs, drove in 17 runs, walked 14 times, and had an on base percentage of .406. She made her way into the top-five in three different stats for single game records at Davenport. She hit two doubles against Grand Valley on April 9, tied for second at DU, her one triple against Parkside on March 28 ranks tied for fifth, and she stole two bases in three different games, which ties for third most in a single game.
 
In addition to the single game top-10's, Palazzolo etched herself in the career all-time rankings and single-season rankings. Her 15 career stolen bases ranks tied for 10^th all-time. For single-season rankings, her stolen base percentage of 1.000 is tied for first, ranks tied for sixth in stolen bases with 15, and ranks tied for ninth in assists with 92. Palazzolo becomes the first softball player at DU to be named to a D2CCA All-Region team!
