GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport played their second-straight home game to start the season and provided the fans with another win. The Panthers took care of business against Notre Dame College and improved to 2-0 this season. The Falcons of Notre Dame College were a tough opponent, only giving up 33 points to Davenport.
Notre Dame College was everything that the team expected and more. They came into the game well coached and very athletic. The Falcons tested Davenport in every phase of the game and dominated in scrims and lineouts. The Panthers kept their composure and once an opportunity presented itself they did not hesitate. Going into halftime, Davenport led by a score of 26-5.
The Panthers knew that NDC would not go away quietly. The Falcons had a couple powerful runs and added a try within the first 10 minutes of the second half. Midway through the half,
Sonja Groters scored on a strong 30-meter run to distance the Panthers from the Falcons. The try and some stringent defense helped DU pull away with the victory.
