GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The D1 hockey team was back in Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League (GLCHL) action this weekend, as they were set to take on Kent State for a pair of games at Patterson this weekend. The Panthers were trying to get back on the winning side of things after a loss on Saturday to Aquinas, and the Golden Flash were trying to bounce back after being swept by John Carroll.
The Panthers dominated the play for the majority of the game, despite the Golden Flash keeping up in the shot category. DU scored six goals in the final frame to turn the game into a rout, and picked up their sixth win GLCHL action.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Nathan Nickelson led the Panthers with two goals and an assist, while
Chris Corgan had a goal and two assists.

Colton Crabtree and
Cory Bussing had two assists for DU.
Alexander Rogers picked up the win in net, along
Jon Strand getting some action in goal for the Panthers.
CONTROLLING THE PLAY
Davenport started the scoring early in the opening period, as Cowan scored on the power play to give the Panthers the lead. Neirynck would score another power play less than five minutes later, and DU was off and running. Thompson would score his seventh of the season after a nice play from
Brad Reitter to send the Panthers to the intermission with a 3-0 lead.
Davenport continued to fill the Kent State net, as
Joey Ogden scored after bouncing the puck off a Golden Flash defenseman for his fourth of the season. Nickelson would be credited with one of the most unfortunate bounces for Kent State, as Jacob Herrberg accidently played the puck into his own net, making it 5-0 Davenport.
In the third period, Goudelock scored his 13
th goal of the season just minutes into the period, followed up by Neirynck's second of the game 19 seconds later. Corgan and Cohan would score less than 90 seconds apart.
Hunter Hillebrecht would score to put Kent State on the board before the halfway mark of the third.
Marc Anderson and Nickelson would wrap up the scoring as Davenport would take home the 11-1 win.
