GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – In game one of Hockey Day at Davenport, the D1 hockey team looked to pick up right where they left off on Friday night on Saturday afternoon. Davenport was looking to complete the sweep against Kent State for their third consecutive season sweep against Kent State.
It was almost déjà vu, as DU jumped out in front early, and they stayed there for the entire game. They went up 5-0 through the first 40 minutes as they did on Friday, and added a few more in the third while on their way to winning their seventh straight conference game.

PAWING WITH THE COMPETITION
Davenport was at it again early in the game, and eventually would break through after Crabtree scored his third goal of the season before the halfway mark of the period. Later on in the period, Fonseca would score his second of the season, on the power play, with less than five minutes remaining in the period. A couple of minutes later,
Adam Goudelock would score his 14
th goal of the season, and Davenport was sitting pretty with a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes.
The second period saw much of the same Reitter scored by bouncing a pass off of Kent State defenseman and in for his third of the season just minutes into the period.
Kent State would get on the board just passed the five-minute mark of the second with a goal from Rubin Chavarria. A few minutes later Fonseca would score his second of the game after a wild scramble around the Golden Flash goal.
Even with a four-goal lead, the Panthers were not done yet. Cowan scored just a few minutes into the frame, followed by Crabtree's second of the game minutes later. Later on in the frame
Austin Thompson would score his eighth of the year, with
Pat Modaff scoring his second of the season with only minutes remaining.
The Golden Flash would tally one more in the dying seconds, but it was too little, too late as the Panthers completed the sweep by a final score of 9-2.
