CALEDONIA, Mich. - The Davenport baseball team set season highs in runs (20) and hits (22) in a 20-3 rout of Hillsdale College on Saturday in their home opener. Kamrin Markwardt and Nolan Anspaugh each went 5-for-6 and tied the school record with five hits in a game. The Panthers scored in all eight innings at the plate including nine runs in the final two at-bats.

Markwardt finished with three RBI and two runs scored. Anspaugh scored three times and collected two RBI and two stolen bases. Jacob Buchberger had a double and triple going 2-for-5 with two walks, two runs and a RBI. Roman Trujillo went 3-for-5 with a team-high four runs scored and two RBI. Christian Petre drove in three runs and went 2-for-3 with a sacrifice fly.

Dalton O'Boyle got the start for DU and improved to 4-0 on the mound. He went five innings and allowed six hits and three earned runs. He walked three and struck out five in 84 pitches. Cal Djuraskovic tossed three scoreless relief innings and fanned four. Duncan Gillett threw in the ninth inning and struck out two. Hillsdale was hurt by five errors which allowed seven unearned runs to score.
