HUDSONVILLE, Mich. - The ACHA men's Division I hockey team saw their four-game win streak snapped by Grand Valley State on Wednesday evening by a final score of 7-4. The unranked Lakers topped the 10th-ranked Panthers to even up the season series at one game each.
GVSU opened up the scoring at 3:07 of the first period but the period would end with Davenport holding a 2-1 lead.
Sebastien Doucet and
Kristers Klavins would score for the Panthers and Klavins goal came on the power play at 14:17 from
Austin Thompson.
The second period belonged to the Lakers as they scored four times. Sandwiched between those four goals was Doucet's second goal of the game and fourth goal of the season unassisted. Shane Haggerty scored twice in the period for GVSU to increase his season goal total to 12.
Matic Nastran scored his first goal of the season at 7:42 of the third period which made the score GVSU 5-4. The Lakers would pull away as Evan Chomchai scored his sixth goal of the season at 12:42 and then Zach Borchardt added an empty-net goal at 19:45. It was a pretty clean game as each team committed three minor penalties for six minutes.
Nathan Gauthier stopped 37-of-43 shots that he faced for Davenport.
