Panthers take series finale 14-5 at Purdue Northwest

DU had seven doubles and two homers in the 19-hit parade

HAMMOND, Ind. - The bats warmed up again after three games of scoring a total of nine runs against Purdue Northwest in the series finale on Sunday. The Panthers erupted for 19 hits including seven doubles and two homers in a 14-5 win over the Pride to take 3-of-4 during the weekend. DU now stands at 15-9 overall and 8-4 in the conference.

The Panthers found themselves down 3-0 after one inning but it didn't faze them. They scored two times in the fourth and fifth and then three times in the sixth. Davenport added two more runs in the seventh and iced it away with five more in the ninth.

Travis Harvey and Anthony Aloisio each had a RBI single in the fourth. Trailing 5-2 in the fifth, DU got a two-RBI double by Carson Eby. Nolan Bryant drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game. Nolan Anspaugh singled home a run and Noah Marcoux had a RBI groundout.

Carter Troncin had a RBI double in the seventh and Christian Petre had a RBI single to increased the lead to 9-5. Anspaugh homered on a three-run shot to left center in the ninth and Harvey also had a solo homer to left center.

Everyone in the starting lineup had a hit for the Panthers. Petre finished 4-for-6 and scored three times. Anspaugh collected three hits and drove in four runs. Aloisio had a career-high three hits in four at-bats. On the mound, DU started Duncan Gillett who faced just six batters and gave up three runs. Spencer Vainavicz came in to throw 2.2 innings and allowed two runs with three walks and four strikeouts. Ricky Clark tossed two-thirds of an inning but walked three. Cal Djuraskovic would get the win (2-0) going four innings and allowed no runs on two hits while also striking out six with no walks. Max Swan tossed a clean ninth inning and walked a batter.
