Women's Lacrosse Finishes Sweep of Concordia-St. Paul, 16-7

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Davenport women's lacrosse team finished the 2021 regular season sweep of Concordia-St. Paul on Sunday with a 16-7 victory at Sea Foam Stadium. The Panthers turned in another strong second half outscoring the Golden Bears by seven in those 30 minutes, 9-2, after outscoring them by eight in the second half of the game on Friday, 11-3.

With three regular season games remaining, all at home, Davenport improved to 8-1 on the season and 4-1 in GLIAC play. On the other side, Concordia-St. Paul is now 3-7 overall and 2-6 in league action. Next up on Friday, the Panthers will host Northern Michigan (6-5, 4-2 GLIAC) with the opening draw scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the DU Turf Field.

Sunday, Davenport was much more balanced offensively as eight different Panthers broke into the scoring column including Ryann Deuel (4 goals), Reilly Noble (3), Brenna Knoll (3), Anna Glynn (2), Maddy Haynes (1), Monique Vale (1), Avery Garant (1), and Aaliyah Miller (1). Assist wise, three players had two apiece including Noble, Knoll and Garant. Knoll fired the most shots of any Panther with nine while both her and Deuel racked up seven shots on goal.

Defensively, the Panthers were paced by Haynes (five ground balls and five caused turnovers) and Deuel (five draw controls. Knoll (pictured) turned in the Player of the Game performance as she did a little bit of everything with three goals, two assists, nine shots, seven shots on target, two ground balls, three caused turnovers, and three draw controls.

In goal, Grace DeRidder played all 60 minutes for the fourth time this season and third time in her last four games with seven saves, which ties her most as a Panther.

In the team head-to-head, Davenport out-shot Concordia-St. Paul 35-20, including 19-7 in the second half and 26-14 in shots on goal, and was a perfect 13-of-13 in clear attempts as opposed to 9-of-13 by the Golden Bears.
