Davenport Dismantles Northern Michigan, 18-4

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Playing at home for the first time since March 17 and just the second time this season, the Davenport women's lacrosse team was happy to be back in the friendly confines on Friday night. The Panthers scored the game's first eight goals and 11 of its first 12 to activate a running clock with over eight minutes still to play in the first half. From there on out, the home team never led by fewer than 13 en route to the 18-4 blowout victory.

With two games left to play in the 2021 regular season, both of which will also be at home, Davenport improved to 9-1 overall and 5-1 in GLIAC play. On the other side, Northern Michigan has lost three games in a row to fall to 6-6 on the season and 4-3 in league action. These two teams will go at it again on Sunday for Davenport's Senior Day with the opening draw scheduled for 12 p.m. at the DU Turf Field.

Friday, seven different players scored for the Panthers including Aaliyah Miller (5), Anna Glynn (3), Brenna Knoll (3), Maddy Haynes (2), Ryann Deuel (2), Reilly Noble (2), and Avery Garant (1). Assist wise, contributions came from Glynn (5), Noble (3), Knoll (2), Deuel (1), Garant (1), and Monique Vale (1). Miller took the most shots of any Panther with seven and also led the way in shots on goal with six.

Defensively, Haynes, Christine Steffes and Jordyn Harrison each tallied three ground balls while Amber Park was the lone Panther to cause multiple turnovers. Davenport's 17 draw controls came from three different players including Knoll (8), Glynn (5) and Deuel (4). In goal, Grace DeRidder (7-1) got the start and played the first half with four saves and only one goal allowed before giving way to Tylor Baker and her one save in the second period.

In the team head-to-head, Davenport dominated in total shots (33-15), shots on goal (28-9) and draw controls (17-5) while holding a smaller advantage in ground balls (15-10).

Sunday, Amber Park, Jordyn Harrison and Ryann Deuel will be recognized prior to the 12 p.m. start against Northern Michigan.
