GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - After falling behind 9-3 to No. 12 Grand Valley State midway through the first half on Tuesday night, the No. 25 Davenport women's lacrosse team battled back to within one, 13-12, at the 11:31 mark of the second half. However, the Lakers would outscore the Panthers 7-3 the rest of the way to win it by five, 20-15. With the win, Grand Valley State won the GLIAC Regular Season Championship and claimed the top seed in the GLIAC Tournament. Davenport will be the No. 2 seed and face the No. 3 seed, Northern Michigan, on May 7 in Allendale.
Anna Glynn (pictured) tied the game high with six goals to go with two assists, nine shots, seven of which were on goal, two draw controls, and four free-position goals. Also scoring for Davenport was
Ryann Deuel (5),
Brenna Knoll (2) and
Aaliyah Miller (2). Knoll also tallied an assist while
Reilly Noble collected one as well. In the draw, Deuel controlled it six times while Knoll had three and Glynn finished with two.
Defensively, DU goalie,
Tylor Baker, notched a season high six ground balls and
Jordyn Harrison was the only other Panther with multiple at two. Three Panthers caused multiple turnovers including Harrison (3),
Maddy Haynes (2) and
Christine Steffes (2).
In goal,
Grace DeRidder (8-2) got the start, but played just over 10 minutes with two saves before Baker played the rest in net with two saves to her name.
