CALEDONIA, Mich. - Davenport played against Adrian College on their home turf on October 22nd as the team honored their seniors. The final score after the 30-minute halves was 58-12 resulting in the fifth win of their 15's season and leaving the Panthers 5-0. For this game specifically the Bulldogs requested 13's be played instead of 15's due to injuries on their team. This meant that there were only 13 girls on each side, with 30 minute halves instead of 40. The game started off with the Panthers scoring a try in the first five minutes of the game, setting the pace that was maintained throughout the first half. Adrian was strong in set pieces, but Davenport was better at exploiting space and maneuvering through the Bulldogs tackles. After the first half the score was 31-5, with the Panthers taking a 26-point lead. After halftime the Panthers wanted to continue to play to their advantage, but also wanted to try new skills as well. Some of these skills included chip kicks from Addy Ochoa, and newer plays used in the forward pack. Although the Panthers and Bulldogs are not used to playing 13's, it still turned out to be a clean and fun day of rugby.
Davenport's senior night was presented at halftime, honoring all of our seniors that will be graduating this semester or next. Vaughn Arnold, Taylor Badal, Abbi Kowalczk, and Bree Bassett will all be completing their four-year degrees, and Mariah Pruitt and Lily O'Connor will be completing their Masters.
