INDIANAPOLIS - Davenport bested McKendree for the first time in four tries on Sunday and has won its first two games of the season in back-to-back campaigns for the first time since 2014-15.
Ayanna Turrubiates (pictured) tied the school record for goals in a game with 10, but that total is the most by a Panther since the program jumped to the Division II ranks prior to the 2018 season.
Next up on the schedule for Davenport is a trip to Quincy on March 2 and the opening faceoff is scheduled for 4 p.m., 3 p.m. central time. The Hawks have lost their first two matches of 2022 including 20-5 to Concordia-St. Paul on Friday and 17-6 to Northern Michigan two days later.
Turrubiates' 10 scores came with 16 shots, 13 of which were on goal, while
Anna Glynn found the back of the net seven times on eight shots, all of which were on target. Glynn racked up 17 draw controls, just three off the program record and also the most by a Panther in our Division II era. The Panthers eight other scores came from
Maddy Haynes (3),
Aaliyah Miller (3),
Avery Garant (1), and
Reilly Noble (1).
Defensively, five different players caused one turnover apiece including Glynn, Haynes, Noble,
Grace DeRidder, and
Erica Buckley. Aside from breaking into the scoring column a trio of times, Haynes tallied three ground balls and
Addie Bethune added a pair. In net,
Maisy Latus made her second-straight start with 28:49 logged before giving way to DeRidder and the final 31:11.
